NY Fashion Week-Feature

This month, New York City debuted their first ever Men’s Fashion Week, revealing all the trends to watch out for this spring. Among these trends according to Men’s Fashion include monochromatic head-to-toe, zippered embellishments for the utilitarian look, as well as outerwear that in the past had been reserved for Fall/Winter collections, until now.

The launch of Men’s Fashion Week was timely as the menswear industry experiences growth due to increased interest in the area. Some men may claim that they have no interest in fashion, but the clothes, shoes and accessories that they’ve handpicked for their wardrobes prove that they do have a sense of style. Often they will find apparel they feel comfortable in, and as the men’s big and tall retailer King Size Direct points out, “Feeling good in your clothes is the first step to looking good,” but that doesn’t mean that T-shirts and sweats will have the same effect as a tux would. In fact, there are plenty of items that will fit you nicely all the while maintaining a clean, sleek appearance.

NYFW may be a little too much for the fashion rookie to handle, so we’ve decided to compile a few wardrobe must-haves as a starting point for a smarter looking wardrobe:

A White Button-Down

As Esquire explains, there’s very little that can go wrong with this button-down, whether the occasion calls for a suit jacket or you’re simply going for a more casual look with jeans and a statement belt.

An Everyday Leather Jacket

A leather jacket is one of the easiest ways to give your outfit that edge that will attract women like that. To make this item a natural addition to your personal style, Men’s Journal suggests that you opt for one that is distressed to make it seem like you’ve had it for years.

A Pair of Well-fitted Khaki Pants

The great thing about khakis, unlike a leather jacket, is that they are available at every budget, but remember the fit is vital when shopping for them. Listed as one of the Forbes, you’ll need to find a pair that is tailored yet still has a relaxed fit.
