Badge of Honor

martin.alvarezMen,

As I wake up in the foothills of the Rockies and inhale the crisp mountain air, feel the constant fluctuation in temperature, see the budding of trees and the rejuvenation of life and foliage, my senses are heightened and I think, Ah yes, all of the key signs that spring is quickly approaching and with it the warmth of summer in its wake.

The trees burst forth with their illustrious blooms in all their glory and splendor, which truly is a feast for the eyes.

With the beckoning of spring, one can’t help but think of the beauty that it brings and the revitalization of life that it perpetuates.  You may marvel as the grassy meadows begin to regain their vibrant color, or perhaps as day breaks and the birds chirp and fill the air with their whimsical song. You may enjoy seeing the trees burst forth with their illustrious blooms in all their glory and splendor, which truly is a feast for the eyes. Whatever attracts your attention, I am sure that we can all agree that spring is a time of awakening, rebirth, and contemplation.

Contemplation is a key element of life and it’s times of the year such as this when the old wheels in the brain begin to start turning.

We appreciate how new life is being generated and that which was laying dominant is springing back into action. But as these amazing functionalities of creation are taking place, it is also a time of contemplation. We may be thinking about new projects we will be taking on around our home, or perhaps what trips we might plan. We may even be thinking about taking up some new hobby or recreational activity that we have been wanting to pursue. Yes, contemplation is a key element of life and it’s times of the year such as this when the old wheels in the brain begin to start turning.

As we start this process of contemplation, do we only think externally, in the things we will pursue in a physical way, or do we also allow ourselves to contemplate introspectively, as to changes we can make internally?

Spring is a time of rebirth and rejuvenation.

Spring is a time of rebirth and rejuvenation. Now, we should consider allowing some changes in our thinking, or allow our pursuits to be reborn, or rejuvenate our desires to make vast changes in our life and the lives of others.

As men, we all wear badges or labels that identify us as to our character and the sort of man that we are. The modern gladiator man is constantly in diligent pursuit of the badge of honor. We demonstrate that we have honor by honoring others.

Honor can be described as respect given to someone who is admired, having good reputation, a good quality or character as judged by other people, or high moral standards of behavior.

Is that a badge that you would proudly wear? Hopefully the answer is yes.

As men, as gladiators, we can be pursuant of such a badge by making it a goal and course of action in the coming months to be cognizant of honoring us.

At MG magazine, we are focused on working with several non-profits, charitable funds, and organizations determined to make real changes in the landscape in which we live. These organizations, much like the trees of spring, are beginning to bud and blossom—they focus on making a difference and transforming the lives of children, women, and men; truly a marvel to behold.

We invite men to help us in our endeavors to join our hands together and work shoulder to shoulder. A call to action is sounding—are we willing to heed it and make a difference, are we willing to “roll up our sleeves” as men and do what needs to be done in order for this “rebirth” and rejuvenation of life to take place?

The seasons are changing. We can no longer stand by idle and not put forth effort and make a difference!

The seasons are changing. We can no longer stand by idle and not put forth effort and make a difference! When we help others in need, we not only receive a badge that honors us or get a pat on the back, but we get real satisfaction and a calming peace from within that makes us realize that we have done something productive, that we have aided someone in need and have impacted someone else’s life for good. There is not a reward or dollar amount on Earth that can rival that feeling. The greater happiness and satisfaction really is in giving and not receiving.

Stay tuned to our future articles and “spotlights” in our community section of MG magazine, and play close attention to the organizations that we are currently working with and will be working with in the coming months. We will be imploring all gladiators to join us in our endeavors and will be diligent in our pursuit of restoring honor and wearing our badge proudly.
