From Ancient Gladiator to Modern Gladiator

Why A Gladiator

In ancient Rome, gladiators dominated the world scene for some six to seven centuries.  They came from a variety of different backgrounds, although most notably they were slaves; others consisted of freemen, debtors, criminals, and even the great emperors of Rome.  Equivalent to modern day sports heroes and rock stars, these men were fearless titans of the arena, revered and adored by legions of fans. Every time they entered the arena, their concentration was on the task at hand—survival and victory.

In the arena, their assailants were many and varied. They maintained a variety of strong and formidable opponents that ranged from men, wild beasts, chariot riders, and even death matches combined with men and beast.  Their survival was based on their training and sheer will.

Outside the arena, gladiators trained in a “ludus,” where they followed a strict regimen of daily exercise involving various forms of weaponry and combat, coupled with a spartan diet. To be a gladiator that stayed alive and was successful meant living a balanced lifestyle and having the proper training and weaponry to combat the opponent.

Discipline, consistency, and proper diet were the staples of a gladiator lifestyle.  The arena is where they longed to be; to die in honor and strength was their higher “code” and the mark of a true gladiator.

ColiseumToday, the ancient coliseums stand silently erect as a testament to a time when men survived their battles through discipline, focus, and determination.

In parallel, men today face daily battles in the “arena” of life. Modern Gladiator’s driving force is to help men become modern day gladiators by providing men with the proper tools and motivation to help them unlock their greatest potential in all areas of life, including family, community, business, spiritual, and personal growth.  We want to empower modern gladiators to achieve the same qualities—focus, initiative, and strength, combined with a healthy lifestyle of diet and exercise—to survive the daily challenges of our modern world and become champions.

The result?  Forging men into modern gladiators; the champions of their world arena
